As part of our commitment to supporters within our annual Fan Engagement Plan, we are pleased to share an update on how home and away match tickets were allocated and used throughout the 2025/26 season.

This demonstrates how we keep access to tickets fair and consistent for all supporters and the action we take to protect supporters from ticket touting and unauthorised resale.

Highlights

  • Home fixture demand reach record levels, with more than 1.27 million ballot applications submitted across the season.

  • The split‑sales strategy continued to deliver strong accessibility, ensuring 99% of members applying for 10 or more ballots – and 96% of those applying for 5 or more – successfully secured a ticket

  • Season Ticket Holders also played a proactive role in maximising attendance at St. James’ Park, using official channels to forward tickets when unable to attend. This included an average of 1,125 tickets redistributed through the official resale platform, which shows an 80% increase from the 24/25 season.

This article covers:

  • Home match ballots and success rates.

  • Away ticket sales (including loyalty points safeguards and our processes to support fair access).

  • Our ongoing work to detect and deter unauthorised resale and ticket touting (including the action we take where misuse is identified). Supporters are reminded that tickets must only be purchased through official Newcastle United channels and used in line with our Ticketing Terms and Conditions.

Ticketing approach

Our ticketing approach is underpinned by three principles:

  • Access and fairness

We aim to provide fair access to tickets, using measures that protect supporters and uphold our Ticketing Terms and Conditions.

  • Supporter consultation and evolution

We listen to supporter feedback and evolve our ticketing processes in a measured, consultative way.

  • Systems and processes

We use clear processes to apply ticketing decisions consistently and to support a smooth experience for supporters.

Home matches

There were 31 home fixtures during the 2025/26 season. As in previous seasons, demand for tickets remained at an all-time high. The Club continued with a split-sales approach, combining a ballot with a Members’ sale window.

Away matches

For the 2025/26 season, we changed the way away tickets are sold following a supporters’ vote. Instead of loyalty point ‘drops’, tickets were sold via an application window to help supporters plan travel with greater certainty once allocations were confirmed.

ID checks continued during the 2025/26 season to help maintain the integrity of the loyalty points system and to act as a deterrent to unauthorised ticket use.

We also continued with ticket forwarding, following its introduction in the 2023/24 season, to help supporters manage legitimate ticket sharing where permitted. Read more about ticket forwarding....

We also conducted its our first full ticket collection for the Qarabag FK fixture for operational reasons.

Ticket touting

Ticket touting is the unauthorised sale or distribution of match tickets. It is illegal and it puts supporters at risk.

Unauthorised sellers often prey on fans’ loyalty by advertising tickets they do not legitimately control. This can result in supporters paying well above face value without any guarantee of entry.

We are committed to protecting supporters and the integrity of our ticketing processes. We proactively identify and challenge unauthorised resale activity both online and in person.

Supporters should only purchase tickets through official Newcastle United channels. Our official online ticketing site is book.newcastleunited.com.

 Touting investigations

We monitor online activity to help identify suspicious Season Ticket and Member accounts and take appropriate action. This includes the use of technology designed to detect automated behaviour (including bots) and protect access to our systems.

We also run intelligence-led matchday activity at St. James’ Park, which can include ID checks and  restricting turnstile access for specific tickets where we believe a ticket has been sold or shared without authority.

Where proof of touting or misuse is secured, Season Ticket and Member accounts may be cancelled in line with our Ticketing Terms and Conditions, without refund.

For the 2026/27 season, we are exploring additional ID verification checks as part of the steps required before purchasing a ticket, to further protect supporters and reduce unauthorised resale.

We remain fully committed to ensuring fair and equitable ticket access for as many fans as possible. Beyond the measures outlined above, we are also actively analysing historical data for suspicious purchasing patterns. Should any issues surface, we will consult with the FAB to ensure our proposed solutions serve the best interests of our fans.
