Newcastle United Women loanee Jessie Gale struck for England Women as they thrashed Tanzania 5-1 to claim their first win at the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup.

The forward, who joined the Magpies for the 2026/27 season from Women's Super League giants Arsenal, came off the bench on the hour at the Bielsko-Biala Stadium in Poland as Rachel Maltby's hat-trick helped the Three Lions to victory.

Gale’s big moment arrived shortly after entering the fray as she poked home her side's fifth of the game to register her first goal at the tournament, having made her Under-20 World Cup bow as a 77th-minute substitute for Princess Ademiluyi in their 1-1 opening-game draw with Canada at the same stadium.

England round off their Group B campaign with a clash with Brazil on Friday, 11th September, with kick-off at the Stadion Miejski set for 2pm BST. A win or draw would secure progress for Gale and her side who currently sit second, with Brazil topping the group after winning both of their fixtures so far.
