United face the Robins at Ashton Gate on Saturday (kick-off 5.15pm BST), and Oxtoby is hoping to see her side build on the positive momentum from last weekend’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Women.
It’s a long away day for Oxtoby’s side to begin their trips south of the country this season, but she has no doubt that the fans will be there in their numbers and has called on "the best fans in the league" to play their role off the pitch.
Here are some of the boss’ main talking points from her pre-match interview…
On building from Sunday's home victory against Wolves…
“There are still areas to improve. I think we had the most counter-pressures out of any team in the WSL and WSL2, but that’s not to say we didn’t give the ball away at times.
“But that element of our game is something we want to be known for, so that was pleasing from our perspective. Whether you’re controlling the game with or without the ball, it’s important you do both sides of the game.”
On the shorter week…
“We plan for all scenarios through pre-season in terms of the way we structured our week, playing both Saturday and Sunday games, so it’s nothing new to us.
“From our perspective, we prepare and we’re excited to get going. It’s going to be a great game.”
On facing Bristol City Women...
“I think we’re a different team (to last season), we’re looking forward and everything is about what we’re trying to do this season and what we can control.
“I think you take each game with a pinch of salt but all due respect to Bristol, it’s about us and what we’re going to be looking to do and challenging ourselves in certain areas.
“We’ve got a group who are hungry to improve and we’re excited for the weekend because it’s going to be a good challenge to help us continue to grow.”
On the away support...
“(They can play) A massive role. I think I’ve said it 100 times, but I think we’ve got the best fans in the league; there is no doubt about that.
“Whether there are 10 of them or 1000, they’re always very loud, so we’ll be expecting nothing less on Saturday to be able to hear them, and we’ll give them some entertaining football as well."
