The Lasses were pipped to the FA Women's National League Division One North title by Liverpool Feds back in 2022 by three points, but recorded back-to-back wins against them when they met again in tier three after the Lasses secured promotion the following season.
Lumsden started the last time these two sides met in March 2024, a 5-1 win for United which put them within touching distance of clutching the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division title.
Having joined halfway through United's first season of moving into a professional model, Lumsden is as eager as ever to continue her development on Tyneside after committing her long-term future to the club in March this year.
"It feels like so long ago since we played them, I can't believe it was only two seasons ago," Lumsden said with a shocked smile across her face.
"I remember we won the game, and if you look back to then and compare it to now, it's easy to see the huge strides we've made on and off the pitch to improve the squad and facilities.
"For me, I've been constantly trying to learn every day since I joined the club and were playing Liverpool Feds in tier three. Bringing in the quality of players we did over the summer helps you to learn and improve as a player, both on and off the pitch."
While United's number 26 has talked up the club's summer recruit of players, she's not looking to give up her spot on the left wing any time soon, with the former England youth international maintaining her lofty ambitions from when she joined in 2024.
"The goal when I joined the club remains the same today: I want to be playing in the WSL (Women's Super League) with Newcastle United," she said.
"We're all very ambitious here, and I certainly think we can achieve that goal, but we've got to keep building on the foundations we've started to lay over the past few games."
Tanya Oxtoby's tenure as United boss got off to the perfect start on Monday evening with a first win at the Gateshead International Stadium, as well as a first clean sheet across all competitions, in a 1-0 victory over Southampton Women.
With an ever-unpredictable tournament like the FA Cup, allied with the renewal of a rivalry from years gone by, Lumsden isn't looking to allow standards to slip after a positive week.
"With Tanya having come in a few weeks ago, it's been great, and I already feel like I've learned quite a lot from her, which has been great for me, although I'm still not entirely satisfied with my performances yet," she added"
"I'm not naive enough to think that Sunday is going to be an easy game; everyone knows what the FA Cup can be like, and anyone can beat anyone in a one-off game.
"We're preparing as we always would for a game and putting in the maximum amount of effort. We'll be going into Sunday wanting to win and book our spot in the next round."
