Defender Cooper was a reliable player for United last season, as well as finding the net three times, and following a 'really good pre-season' which saw the Lasses jet off to both Marbella and Munich, she's excited for what's to come in WSL2.
"I think we've had a good pre-season and worked on a lot of stuff from last season," Cooper said. "I think we've got a great group and a really talented one.
"An aim of mine is to stay on the pitch as much as possible and to enjoy my football. They were two of my targets last season, and it all went pretty well for me, so I'm going to keep them heading into this season.
"Our trip to Marbella allowed me to build up my fitness in a really nice way and not just dive straight into a pre-season schedule. Getting to play in Munich against Bayern was great for everyone, as well as facing Atlético Madrid at St. James' Park, so overall it's been a really good pre-season for me."
Newcastle have been active throughout the summer, adding eight new faces to a squad that finished fifth in their debut season at this level, and are now looking to kick on.
Cooper is delighted with how all of United's new players have settled in ahead of a new-look WSL2 campaign which offers up to three spots for promotion, but the 32-year-old refuses to look any further than the next game.
"Everyone has settled in amazingly, and we've brought in some great players and people with plenty of experience," she added.
"We've signed players who've got plenty of WSL2 experience and people who've got international experience, and they've all helped to create a great environment.
"Our goal within the club is to finish in the highest possible position that we can this season, and that's all that we'll be focusing on throughout the season, taking it game by game."
Amongst the influx of new arrivals on Tyneside, Newcastle announced they would be relocating and playing their home games at the Gateshead International Stadium, which allows the players to be play on a grass pitch.
Cooper, who's played on grass pitches throughout her career with both Reading Women and Chelsea Women, cannot wait to walk out at Gateshead and experience hearing the fans once again.
"I'm really looking forward to playing there because I've heard that the pitch is absolutely amazing," she said.
"It's just great to have a grass pitch for our home, it's fantastic for us. I'm looking forward to getting there, playing at our new home and getting in front of our fans once again."
