Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle admitted Joelinton will be sidelined for Saturday's Premier League trip to Fulham (kick-off 3pm GMT).

The Magpies head to the capital aiming to bounce back from Monday's 1-0 home defeat against Everton and target back-to-back away wins in the English top-flight after last month's 2-0 triumph at Crystal Palace.

Jaissle will be without the services of Jacob Ramsey as the midfielder serving a one-match ban following his red card against the Toffees at St. James' Park and the German coach also revealed Joelinton will also be unavailable for the clash against the Cottagers due to injury.

The 38-year-old, however, provided a positive update on Matias Fernandez-Pardo's status, stating the Belgium international is "training again with us" following a lengthy virus.

Here are some of the boss' main talking points at Thursday's pre-match media briefing, held at The KNOX Media Centre...

On Lewis Miley and Joelinton injuries...

"Joelinton went out with an injury again, we need to make the final treatment plan for him and see how long he will be out.

"Lewis is getting better and better, showed a good reaction, he is making progress how I expected and wished for."

On Fernandez-Pardo's progress...

"Matias Fernandez-Pardo has had a heavy virus, he has been out for more than two weeks.

"He is progressing and training again with us, we will have to see how he is physically before Fulham."

On seeing a reaction from his side...

"We spoke about Monday, we analysed in detail, we engaged as a group. We have such a good group, we have a good relationship with the players.

"We can really count on our togetherness. Everyone is fully committed.”

On looking ahead to Fulham...

"It is on us to go again in the right direction and show better performances. Analyse in detail, speak and then regroup.

"You see players, in their faces, they want to show a reaction. We need to step up in all the things we can influence, use every situation to make the smaller details better."

On Sean Steur...

"He showed in the last match that he can contribute a lot of good things into our game even though the match against Everton was a bit different but he has so much potential.

"We need to find a way that's he able to play more minutes as his progress is going in the right direction."
