And Molly Pike is ready to make a statement in the capital this weekend as the Magpies aim to extend a seven-game unbeaten run in the league.
The Addicks came out on top by a single goal in the reverse fixture in September and are five points clear at the summit of the table. However, despite Charlton's strong first half of the season, Pike is in a confident frame of mind.
"The mood has been good in training, and I think everybody is ready to hit the ground," Pike told newcastleunited.com. "We know that it's going to be a tough game, but if we match their fight on the pitch, we'll be in a good place to pick up a positive result.
"I think it would be a big statement for us to get a win this weekend, but ultimately, we're focusing on ourselves and what we can do as a team to ensure we get the result that we want, because that's how we're going to keep improving."
A first defeat under Oxtoby came at the hands of Women's Super League (WSL) side West Ham United Women last Friday.
Despite exiting the Adobe Women's FA Cup at the fourth round stage, the Lasses created chances and held their own for much of the match.
"I think we dominated large parts of the game against West Ham," Pike admitted. "To do that against a WSL side is a real positive and shows how far we've come.
"I thought we were brave on the ball going forward and were equally as brave out of possession with our pressing. There are positives we can take from that game heading into the weekend against Charlton."
United's number ten has missed just one game under Oxtoby and started in both league wins against Southampton Women and Portsmouth Women respectively.
However, while she is the club's second top goalscorer in WSL2 with three strikes, the 25-year-old has adopted a new role in midfield since Oxtoby took charge.
"I'm really enjoying my football under Tanya and playing in a slightly different role," she added. "I'm loving the coaching that she provides every day.
"I've loved getting to know this new role because it's adding more to my game and making me a better player."
